Trust Breastfeeding was created in 2011 to empower, educate, and encourage women and their partners about the many benefits of breastfeeding.
Dr. Rhonda Trust provides the most recent research to her students, while providing mothers with the practical aspects of breastfeeding.
The United States would save $13 billion dollars per year if 90% of families in the U.S followed the health agencies recommendation of 6 months of exclusive breastfeeding & 900 infant deaths would be prevented annually if the 6 month recommendation was followed (Bartick & Reinhold, 2010).
Studies show that early introduction-prior to 6 months- to supplements may alter the immune system and possibly cause health issues such as ear infections, juvenile diabetes, respiratory tract infections, food allergies, and other health issues (Newburg & Walker, 2007; Kunz & Rudloff, 2008; LeBouder & Rey-Nores, & Raby et al., 2006).
Women who breastfeed have fewer incidences of breast and ovarian cancer, return more quickly to pre-pregnancy weight, and have a decreased risk of menopausal osteoporosis (CDC, 2011)
